Megan Berardelli

Artist member since 2023
Ottawa, Ontario

My name is Megan Berardelli, and I'm a fine art photographer based in Ottawa, Canada. My photography seeks to translate the natural world through an ethereal and timeless narrative. My images are created to evoke emotion and celebrate the process of becoming re-enchanted with our world. I am endlessly inspired by anything that brings me more questions than answers - the unknown.

My photographic artwork is an interpretive investigation of landscape - both as a literal place and a subjective concept. I am self-educated through years of trial and experimentation which have led to the development of my distinctive style. Today, I have moved away from trying to create the perfectly timed technical image, but rather strive to capture moments that evoke emotion and do not feel bound by time.

My photographic language is poetic and atmospheric; I seek to share brief moments when the veil lifts on secrets known only to the shadows and the light. Providing viewers with a sense of deep connection and exploration into where the tangible meets the abstract is my ultimate goal. My photography has been exhibited in galleries internationally and is held by collectors across North America and Europe.

Inside the Studio

Q+A

What kind of artwork do you have in your home?

A mixture of all types of mediums and formats, but what they all have in common is a feeling of timelessness and an ethereal, soft feeling about them. They make me feel connected to the artist and our natural world in a way that is always comforting and grounding.

When did you start making art, and why?

I began creating terrible photos when I was around 14 years old, and they've slowly progressed to slightly less terrible haha. But more importantly, I began photography to document where I was at that moment in my life. As a way to eternalize nature and time as it stood in that moment, and how it never will be again.

Only thing you need when you leave the house

Headphones because I have a podcast addiction that I haven't come to terms with yet.
